Horse Insurance

Insurance for Your Horse

This comprehensive policy reimburses you in the event of the death of your insured horse resulting from an accident, sickness or disease sustained during the annual policy term.  This policy also provides coverage if an insured horse requires euthanasia, as recommended by your veterinarian and agreed to by the insurance company,
to prevent excess or continued suffering due to an incurable injury or terminal disease.
Limited theft protection is included offering protection if the insured animal is stolen and dies as a result.

Your mortality policy will provide coverage while your insured horse is stabled in the United States or Canada including during transportation throughout.  The territorial limits of your policy can be extended to include many foreign countries.  Prior notification and acceptance by the insurance company is required to provide transit coverage outside of the US and Canada.  This is a very important consideration if you are purchasing a horse from another country, or one who will be traveling worldwide.

You will always want to notify your agent or assigned claims adjuster of any illness or injury requiring veterinary care and prior to any surgery even if elective-type surgery.
Failure to give proper notice of any claim or prior to any surgery (unless required to save the animal’s life) could jeopardize your insurance coverage.

Insurance Policy Requirements
The insurance company has specific requirements for placing insurance on your horse.  Once these requirements are met, we will be able to immediately provide coverage. Learn More

Farm/Ranch

FARM & RANCH OWNERS INSURANCE

A horse farm is a unique property requiring an insurance policy specifically designed to provide coverage for all of the buildings on the property as well as the liability protection for your horse ownership or equine operation.  Our farm and ranch owner’s policy is a customized policy developed to fill in the gaps of the traditional homeowner’s policy.  A homeowner’s insurance policy may not cover many of the exposures inherent in the horse industry including farm property, farm equipment and equine liability.   Learn More

Equine Liability

Equine Liability

If you have a standard Homeowners Policy or Personal Umbrella Policy, your liability coverage may not extend to incidents involving your horse.  Most policies provide coverage for your personal liability only.  The Equine Liability Policy provides protection for bodily injury or property damage caused by your horse ownership or equine activities including boarding, breeding, training or providing riding instructions.

Care, Custody & Control

Care, Custody or Control Liability Insurance

Equine Care, Custody or Control Liability Insurance is an essential coverage for all horse operations which involve non-owned horses, and includes boarding, breeding and training instruction programs. Standard general liability insurance excludes coverage for personal property (horses are an example) in your care, custody or control. This insurance fills the void by promising to pay sums you are legally obligated to pay up to the limit you select for damage to non-owned horses in your care, custody or control.

This insurance will cover up to the chosen policy limits for the injury, theft or death of the horses in your care, custody or control. Coverage includes defense costs for lawsuits including the cost of bail bonds, interest on judgments against you and expenses you incur at our request to assist in the defense and can include loss of earnings, up to $100 per day, depending upon the carrier.

Trailering or transporting of non-owned horses in your care is included for up to a 100- or 150-mile radius, depending upon the carrier. Transportation outside of that radius to include the continental U.S. and Canada can be added to the coverage.
